“Doctor said that I have two vertebrae that have been broken, fractured. I have scrapes on my hands and legs.”

Duane Moody

“It had to have been frightening.”

Lisa Hemmans Robateau

“It is. It was. It still is surreal. It never felt like. I couldn’t believe that that was actually coming my way when I heard the wheels because I wasn’t driving fast; it was a normal speed limit.”

….and by the doctor’s order, she won’t be able to do much for the next three months, as Lisa Hemmans Robateau will be wearing a brace to support her back.

Lisa Hemmans Robateau

“According to Doctor Smith, I need to wear this brace for about three months until I can do anything normal again. I can’t bend, I have to just sit upright.”

Duane Moody

“So you won’t be able to perform or anything like that?

Lisa Hemmans Robateau

“Right, just rest.”

The season four winner of KTV the Remix was the victim of an accident on Tuesday on Coney Drive. She recounts what happened just before seven p.m.

Lisa Hemmans Robateau

“So I went for gas at the Puma Gas Station around 6:45 and I was just driving straight down the road, stopping at every bump, etc. And when I passed the junction by Malu, I heard the wheels of a car – I don’t know if the car was braking or speeding up, but after I heard the wheels, there was a big bang. And I felt the car bang me in the back of the cycle, the scooter and then I flew off the cycle and landed on my back.”

The driver of the vehicle has since been served with a notice of intended prosecution and blood and urine samples were retrieved for testing.

Lisa Hemmans Robateau

“All I know is that they got footage from Malu which showed that the driver sped up behind me and she rammed the cycle. They are still waiting on tests to see if she was under the influence or not. So I would just encourage people who is out there, if you are under the influence, please stop. Don’t drive like that. It is not good for anybody. You put people’s lives in danger and I don’t even know if I’ll be able to move as normal as I used to before, but I am hoping for a speedy recovery.”

Duane Moody for News Five.
