Landfolio Management System at Ministry of Natural Resources Receiving Major Upgrade
The Ministry of Natural Resources is upgrading its Landfolio software for greater efficiency within the Lands Department. This upgrade from the second generation of the Landfolio software to Landfolio seven is expected to provide greater efficiency to Belizeans, while providing a more transparent process. The new system streamlines the process at the Lands Department, from the application process all the way to granting, and compliance monitoring. This upgraded system is set to come on stream on the first of October 2022. We spoke via Zoom with Nelda Tulcey, the Chief Executive Officer in the Ministry of Natural Resources, about the upgrade.
Nelda Tulcey, Chief Executive Officer, Ministry of Natural Resources
“The Landfolio itself is software that enables us to manage our natural resources. We have had Landfolio for a while, but right now we are looking to upgrade from the two point zero to a seven. It will assist us with management of the Land Registry, the Lands and Survey Department for basically accurate, readily available, and transparent land management records. So, that will help us to be able to shorten different processes that we do here, particularly in Land Registry and in the Lands and Survey Department. As you did mention, you did mention mining, which for Mining, National Hydrological Services, Solid Waste, and even for Geology and Petroleum, those services can be provided using this tool, this Landfolio tool. However, we are not there yet in terms of migrating this system to provide the services that those departments also offer.”
