But there are those who are concerned about their safety during the festivities. Today, Community Director of the Belize Police Department, Assistant Superintendent Fitzroy Yearwood says that the event will be adequately policed.

“We have our security heightened. We tend to block every corner along the route. You know the route will commence from Faber’s Road and Central American Boulevard and we will take a right into Vernon Street, proceed contrary to the flow of traffic over BelChina Bridge. We will go Douglas Jones into Kelly Street into Baymen Avenue and then left into Princess Margaret Drive and Marion Jones Stadium where we will have the judging of the carnival groups. We will have quite an amount of officers along the route and as well we will have the specialised units that will be patrolling in the off roads and off streets to the Marion Jones Stadium. We intend to have standby units and we will have everything that we believe we need to assure the general public that they will be save while watching the carnival.”
