Bus Operators Will Soon Introduce Better Buses on the Highways

People who commute every day to and from work and home can expect to see better buses serving them within the coming months. That is, if they live up to their end of the bargain to provide better buses for the prices they charge. Today, News Five asked Minister of Transport, Rodwell Ferguson how that arrangement is moving along.

“I personally visited the National Bank and discussed how we can find a way to assist. They were very receptive, so I think last week the C.E.O. and the C.T.O. signed an M.O.U. with National Bank to start the process. So I think by now the operators can start to go in and say I am looking for a loan to improve my standard of bus. We had extended the deadline to December 2022. That does not mean that in December 2022, you will see all upgraded buses on the highways. But the transformation should begin. As a matter of fact it has begun with Floralia. And maybe after a three, four months, you are going to see some new buses – or maybe not new brand but better than what we have to provide adequate transportation for the people of Belize.”
