Anglican Diocese in Belize Celebrates Worship and Fellowship

Josephine Flowers

The Anglican Diocese is celebrating this weekend and is calling out all its faithful to come out and participate in worship and fellowship.  Diocesan Day is commemorated annually on August tenth, but this year things are being done a bit differently.  This morning, we caught up with Josephine Flowers, a member of the Fellowship Commission of the Anglican Diocese.

“We are celebrating our Diocesan Day which was actually the tenth of August. However, we are having our service on Sunday.  Our theme is: “Building up and encouraging one another.”  We’re finished through COVID and that is what we need to do.  We need to build up and encourage each other to continue doing the work of the church.  So each area churches, we’re going to have different activities.  I can start off by saying St. Mary’s and St. Francis, we are having church service and of course they know that we know how to entertain.  So it might be food, it might be… so we don’t know what is going in but we’ll have something definitely.  And then I can say this, the western churches, the one in Belmopan, they are going to do parish profiles, so they are going to talk about their parish and it’s educating congregation and encouraging them to come out back.  So there is something out there for everybody.  Then the Hispanic churches, they are having games after service, so it’s like entertaining, encouraging, entertaining.  Then the most activity is going to be from the church in Dangriga, Christ the King.  They are doing bible competition, field games and, of course, they start off with this parade and I tell everybody that it’s a pity all of us can’t have the music that they will be having because you know we’ll feel the vibes and get the action going.”
