IMPACT Justice Supports Law Revision Efforts of Belize

The Government of Belize is being assisted with revising the country’s subsidiary laws which were last updated almost twenty years ago.  With help from Improved Access to Justice in the Caribbean, IMPACT Justice, an initiative funded by the Canadian government, the subsidiary laws will be brought up to date to December 31st, 2020.  This will be undertaken by the Regional Law Revision Center, a non-profit organization incorporated in Anguilla.  According to Attorney General Magali Marin-Young, it was of critical importance that the exercise be carried out so as to improve not only the efficiency of the legal system but also to ensure certainty of the law for citizens, legal practitioners and even law enforcement.  The project began in June of this year and will conclude by March 2023.
