Seine Bight to Get a Welcome Center

A welcome center is coming to the village of Seine Bight. Area representative Rodwell Ferguson was joined by Minister of Tourism Anthony Mahler for the official unveiling of the planned structure which is designed to provide a free-flowing space where local and foreign visitors can immerse in the culture of the vibrant community. Among the residents present at the ceremony was Village Chairman Jose Aleman.

“We are here to improve our communities, especially our tourism communities because they bring in the revenues and we want to give back to them. So when the minister told me he wanted to unveil a welcome center in Seine Bight, I had no objections; I said minister, I am with you a hundred percent. And ih say further that it will bring opportunities for the people of Seine Bight because it will allow the cruise passengers to come into Seine Bight because now Seine Bight is going to the island; it should be the other way around. So we hope that once everything is completed, we will see significant improvement of revenues for the people of Seine Bight.”

“From we got into government, I spoke to Rodwell Ferguson about this project. I said that we want to do things that will transform the area, that will improve the area, that will take the area to a next level. We believe that with certain investments that we can build a tourism product in this area whereby people would want to come from all over the world and from Belize. When you look at all the surveys and research, especially after COVID, people are looking for a life fulfilling experience, they want to immerse themselves in culture, they want to experience the food, the music, the dance – just the way of life, they want to learn about the different cultures.”
