An Attempted Robbery in Sugar City Ends in a Stabbing

There was a stabbing incident in Orange Walk on Sunday when an individual who was allegedly being attacked by a trio of robbers defended himself with a knife.  The altercation happened on Baker’s Street and when it was over, one person was observed with injuries that were inflicted on him during the scuffle.

“On Sunday, the seventh of August, 2022 at 1:19 a.m., police were called to a fight in progress at Bakers Street in Orange Walk Town where they met Angel Ku who reported that whilst walking on Bakers Street, he was attacked by three male persons who attempted to rob him.  As a result, he took out a utility blade and inflicted an injury to one of them who was later identified to be Santiago Deras who received an injury to his neck.  He is presently admitted at the Northern Regional Hospital in critical condition.”

“Is he under police guard?”

“Yes.”

“And is he expected to be charged upon his release?”

 

Alfonso Aban

“Yes, as soon as he, if he is out of the hospital he will be charged, definitely.”

“And what about the other robbers?”

 

Alfonso Aban

“They have not identified the other robbers, as the complainant does not know anyone of them.”
