Is Moises Cal Being Replaced as Government’s Pick for PSC Chairman?

Moises Cal

Is government reneging on the appointment of Moises Cal as chair of the Public Service Commission?  While it is yet to be made official, P.S.U. President Dean Flowers alluded to the likelihood of another individual being appointed to that seat.  It comes after strong objections from the Public Service Union which questioned the integrity of the former ambassador based on allegations that were made against him in 2007.  According to Flowers, the Minister of the Public Service, during media rounds earlier this week, commented on the issue.

“While the good news is not out yet, I think one of the positives, following our previous conversation was the fact that we registered our concerns with the government, as it relates to the Public Service Commission.  While we have not received any response from the prime minister, I can say that I was listening to the Minister of Public Service as he made a media appearance on the radio, I believe it was yesterday.  And when we listened to his comments, they were very encouraging and it would suggest that the government has decided to hold off on that appointment and it would appear that they are well on their way to naming an alternate individual and that is very good news for us.”
