Delroy Cuthkelvin Speaks Out Following Expulsion from U.D.P.

Last night we told you that U.D.P. firebrand Delroy Cuthkelvin has been expelled from his party. Well, Cuthkelvin says he does not consider himself expelled from the U.D.P.  He was accused violating the Party Constitution with his sustained public bombardment of attacks on the party. The release refers to a slew of social media ads that Cuthkelvin has produced over the last year in which the leadership of Opposition Leader Shyne Barrow is being called into question. But of course, Cuthkelvin views his campaign as nothing more than an attempt to restore the U.D.P. to its glory days. And, he claims to have the support of thousands of U.D.P. members from across the country. So, while a public apology is being demanded, Cuthkelvin told us in an interview today that the U.D.P. owes him an apology.

Delroy Cuthkelvin, Expelled from the U.D.P.

“When we lost the election in 2020, there was a number of reasons we lost the election. So the Belizean people sent us a strong signal. So, for all of us who are part of the U.D.P. in terms of the structure of the party and promoting the party it has been incumbent on all of us to ensure that we fix what went fundamentally wrong. So, when people like myself say certain things, and write certain things, we do so because we want the party to get back to what the party stands for, to the foundational principles of the party. On a daily basis there are people in the party who talk to people like myself saying these are the things going wrong and they need to be addressed. So, when I utilize the mechanisms at my disposal to ensure that those issues are brought to the fore, it is not just for me. It is for all who has the interest of the U.D.P. at heart to ensure that the party gets back to what the party should be, which is a formidable force in opposition and preparing itself to be government once against.”

“Will you apologize, when will you apologize?”

Delroy Cuthkelvin,

“Apologize for what? I think the leadership owes me an apology for not listening to the people of the party. So, certain persons purport to have expelled me from the party. I don’t consider myself expelled from the U.D.P. There is not a register that you can remove my name from. I currently don’t hold any official position in the party. I am a U.D.P. because I say I am a U.D.P. and I act like a U.D.P., and I will remain a U.D.P. I will continue to act like what a U.D.P. is suppose to act as.”
