“When we look at some of the leading countries, especially when we look at Cuba and Mexico and these countries around us is that some of the lifespan of their citizens are mostly extended because of the physical activity that was implanted in them from a younger age. We have to seek ways how we could redirect ourselves to improve the lifestyle of all Belizeans in regards to physical activity. Remember CODICADER is the sporting arm for SICA and so this will certainly help to improve our athletes across the region, but more so for us. I must say this is a lot of good information for Belize. Next year, the intermediate competition will come on stream first; there will be no CODICADER competition until 2024. So we have put in place some intermediate and Belize will host basketball and table tennis next year and then we go to all other Central American for the different events. So certainly this is a start for what CODICADER will mean for Belize going forward.”
