CEO Martinez Shares Plan as New Constituency Director of C.D.B.

Doctor Osmond Martinez

And while Doctor Martinez brought positive news for Belize’s participation at the recent E.U. meetings, and the pledges we have received for development in southern Belize, he also scored big. The C.E.O. has been appointed director by the Caribbean Development Bank’s Board of Governors for the constituency of Belize, Anguilla, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Montserrat, and Turks and Caicos. He shared his plan for helping these countries and territories.

Doctor Osmond Martinez, CEO, Ministry of Economic Development & Investment

“I have the privilege and the opportunity to fight for the interests of Belize and all Belizeans. In terms of all the opportunities that a bank can offer, one is technical support, concessionary loans, climate finance and keep fighting for all the capital losses that Belize has had due to climate change. But to represent five countries now it is quite an honour because now – yes, Belize is the top priority, but no, we have the opportunity to expand our networks and opportunities with the other four countries in the region. My main objective is one, to see how we can fight for concessionary loans, two – grants, three – technical support, four – how we can develop some lines of credit to the private sector with low-cost financing, and five – there is a very important (element) and I’m very passionate about it and I think I’m in a privileged position to fight for academia to be more integrated I terms of research and development and to help the region, not only Belize but the region to grow into a sustainable economic path.”
