Georgetown’s New Chairman is Soon-to-retire Supt. Daniel Arzu
Superintendent Daniel Arzu emerged victorious on Sunday to become the new village council chairman of Georgetown Village. Arzu ran as an independent candidate and bested other aspirants for the post. But he isn’t going on pre-retirement leave until later this year. Commissioner of Police Chester Williams gave us a brief update.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Belize
“Mr. Arzu is still the Southern Regional Commander. He is to proceed on pre-retirement leave later this year.”

“So how does that work with, I mean I saw the memo that you went into the archives for, but now it’s obvious that the village council elections are in fact being politicized. Would that change that policy now?”
Chester Williams
“It is not my decision to change the policy, it is a matter for the Minister of Public Service and his C.E.O. to change, not me.”
