Carl Reneau Gunned Down on Faber’s Road Extension

There was a deadly shooting in Belize City today that resulted in traffic being brought to a standstill on Faber’s Road Extension. Gunfire erupted sometime after two o‘clock this afternoon and when the shooting subsided, thirty-three-year-old Carl Reneau lay mortally wounded on the sidewalk.  A bicycle and a pair of slippers were found on the scene of the incident where police and Scenes of Crime technicians were processing the area for evidence. News Five understands that as many as six rounds were fired in Reneau’s direction, several of those bullets found their mark on his body. He was rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital for emergency medical attention but succumbed to his injuries a short while after. Reneau has had a history of run-ins with the law, including an arrest in the murder of fifteen-year-old Jaheem Mahler who was senselessly gunned down in January 2017. Despite beating that charge, Reneau was again before the court for attempted murder in March 2020, when he reportedly stabbed Robert Hower who was walking along Antelope Street.
