Minister of Public Utilities Says BTL Acquisition of Cable Company was A Board Decision
The big news last week was that B.T.L. had acquired Alternative Networks Limited, a cable company in Benque Viejo, as part of its plan to package all its services to its customers. But Leader of the Opposition Shyne Barrow had suggested that the acquisition was a waste of money, since cable is an obsolete mode of entertainment. Today, the media asked the Minister of Public Utilities, Michel Chebat for his views on the acquisition by the publicly owned company.

“I understand this was a deliberation by their board and they felt that this was a critical part of the services that they want to offer, and so they in their deliberate judgment felt that this was a good investment. As you know, we have members who sit on the board of directors who are aware of government’s policies and government’s plan, and so their job is really to ensure that when these decisions are being made, that they are aligned with what government’s policies and plans are.”
