Area Rep Andre Perez Welcomes B.I.M.F.F.

The first-ever Belize International Music and Food Festival will be held in San Pedro and will see seven hundred and fifty thousand dollars invested into putting off the event. While the Government of Belize is being criticized about the level of investment and the exclusion of some Belizean artists, area rep and Minister of Blue Economy Andre Perez says that it is an exciting time for Ambergris Caye which is readily becoming an option for huge events like these.

Andre Perez, Minister of Blue Economy

“It is all about injecting in tourism and we are proud that here in Ambergris Caye that we are able to host it. We have the capacity, we have the capabilities in terms of hotel rooms we have. And of course even for the music festival, there is another concert the week before. I have been approached by somebody with boxing also; they want to bring boxing as well to San Pedro, which is sports as well. So we believe that San Pedro can easily become that place wherever there is international events – not only related to music, but sports as well – we are able to handle it. One day, we want to build a nice complex to be able to host anything, maybe on a monthly basis we have something occurring here in San Pedro. So we are excited, it’s a first time and the Ministry of Blue Economy is also participating in there as well. We are excited. It’s a first and hopefully it becomes a yearly thing.”
