“Standards are actually demand-driven. It has to come from a need in the market – a need from industries, a need from various aspects. If we are going to transition to biodegradable alternatives, then we need to know what those will be. What do we mean when we talk about bio-degradable and compostable materials? Standards come into play. So then we need to look at what standards will the country of Belize implement to ensure that if we transition, and we are transitioning to biodegradable alternatives, that indeed they are. People that export – they know all about standards. Why? Because the export market requires, it is a requirement. So, you make sure that your investment that you make is in line with standards. It could be from your customer requirements. Your customer is now requiring for your product to meet a certain type of quality, as you say, so as a company and you are investing undertaking a certain process or providing a certain service, you need to ensure that you know what those requirements are and you need to make sure that your process is built in accordance to that.”
