Pfizer Vaccines Expires in May

Natalia Largaespada Beer

As of May thirtieth, Pfizer vaccines will no longer be available in country. The last batch of Pfizer vaccines in Belize will expire at the end of the month.  Additionally, there are no AstraZeneca vaccines in country at this time. So, after the month of May only Johnson and Johnson vaccines will be available for administering. Doctor Beer told us more.

Dr. Natalia Largaespada Beer, Ministry of Health

“I want to take the opportunity to remind the public that the Government of Belize has procured more that hundred percent of the vaccines needed for persons eligible in Belize to get the vaccine. We have been, as Doctor Diaz mentioned, available for any strategy to get the vaccines in arms. Now, the vaccines usually have a short expiration period. So, we will continue vaccinating until the last day the vaccines expire. And, persons would have to wait until we restock with vaccines. The opportunity was there, and thirtieth of May is the last day that we will have Pfizer vaccines available for persons twelve years and older at the vaccination sites. After the thirtieth of May there will only be Johnson and Johnson and Johnson Vaccines available.”
