Crique Jute Village Gets New Potable Water System

Crique Jute Village in the Toledo District has a new water system. The new system was officially opened on Monday and consists of two water tanks, and where wells once kept the residents’ clothes clean and their wash basins full, a network of pipes and faucets have replaced that outdated system. But Minister of Rural Development Oscar Requeña encouraged the residents to take care of the new system they have.

Oscar Requena, Minister of Rural Development

“The mothers when they have to cook and no water – when they have to wash clothes and no water – when the children are sick and they need clean water to take care of the kids, it’s so difficult. But today your cry has been answered and it is a blessing that we have this water system, but we must take care of it. You must take care of it, ladies and gentlemen. It’s very important. A lot of times when we have the water we nuh miss it, you know. We waste the water, we throw the water [away], we bathe and lef the shower running and tap running but mek the water cut out fi one hour, (chuckles) then wi start cry. So we have to take care of our water system.”
