Kevin Bostick

SOUTHCOM Director Kevin Bostick also spoke about safety protocols for the one thousand, nine hundred military personnel who will be participating in the exercise. Kevin Bostick, SOUTHCOM Director of Exercises and Coalition Affairs

“Near and dear to every body’s heart is the COVID protocol. So folks are coming in and we’re being tested. We understand. I’ll even go back to last year. Last year was the first time we had a Tradewinds and we did it in Guyana in June of last year. Fourteen hundred from eighteen different countries and I will tell you that we did not have one COVID positive due to the exercise itself. People are tested, people are given the vaccines. When we are in the formations, we are doing a lot of stuff outside so that they are training in the field sites. If you are in the classrooms, then you have doors open, we have circulation – we do everything possible to make sure that the individuals from all these countries that are participating stay safe; two, that we don’t cause any problems inside the country of Belize and three, doing that that takes a lot of all hands on deck, a lot of medical professionals because we have those folks here as well from Southern Command Headquarters that will also team with the ones on the ground to make sure this is what we need to do, this is how we need to do it and we are going to do our very best to make sure all the people coming in do not deviate from what has to happen to keep Belize safe.”
