Has Revision of COVID Deaths Helped in Fighting Pandemic, Other Diseases?

From February fourteenth to April ninth, there have been about thirty reported COVID-related deaths. This encompasses the two months since the revision process started. These numbers include those deaths that were initially undetermined. Did this process help with the decision-making in the fight against the pandemic?

“When you talk about deaths, you are talking about severity of certain diseases that it has on the health system, and need to revise strategies and need to revise policies in regards to communicable and non-communicable diseases. In this case what we’ve been seeing with COVID is that pretty much it is in a certain population – the population that has diabetes, hypertension, cancer. So we basically have to relook at the services we’ve been providing to those individuals and to try to capture them back into care so that they can be controlled. That they control their sugar levels, their blood pressure and that’s what we are trying to look at in these COVID deaths. Where were these deaths the most, in which population, in which age group and that’s certainly what we are trying to work out. So in populations where you have that kind of individuals who are not seeking services to time then that’s the situation you might be seeing. So in other areas that you are seeing there is an adequate health system, a stronger health system then this is where you can see those kinds of differences. Now we are trying to work at that and this is what Hipolito was alluding to. How does that go to policy change? How does that strengthen certain interventions. And this sis the part that we are trying to work out.”
