Man faces seven counts of robbery for separate incidents

A fisherman of King’s Park who is accused of committing two separate hold-ups at different locations was today denied bail after he pleaded not guilty before Chief Magistrate Margaret McKenzie. He was denied bail because the offenses were allegedly committed with a firearm. Because there were six people inside one of the stores at the time of the hold-up, twenty-eight year old Kareem Flowers is charged in that instance, with six counts of robbery.

According to Jian Xiang Zheng of Jackie’s Supermarket on Dolphin Drive, Buttonwood Bay, he was in the store around seven o’clock on the night of February sixteenth along with his wife, brother, and three customers when three men entered. One of the men produced a pistol and pointed it at him, then hit his brother on the hand with the weapon.

Meanwhile, the other two men went behind the counter and stole a computer system, along with phone cards and over six hundred dollars in cash. Before they left, the thieves also helped themselves to a cell phone and eight hundred dollars more from Zheng’s relatives and the customers. The robbers sped off in a green Toyota Camry car. Police investigations led them four days later to Flowers’ residence where they allegedly found the stolen computer in the back of Flowers’ pick-up truck that was parked in front of his house. The other hold-up occurred on Valentine’s Day at Ken Lee Shop in Lord’s Bank Village. During that heist, the culprits stole seven hundred dollars, assorted liquor and phone cards. Police are looking for the two other suspects. Flowers, who is represented by Attorney, Michael Peyrefitte, is required to return to court on March twenty-seventh.
