B.D.F. Soldier Detained Pending Charges; Orange Walk Resident Died After Fight

A Belize Defense Force soldier is facing charges following the death of a man in Orange Walk Town. The B.D.F. and Ministry of National Defence and Border Security issued a joint statement this afternoon saying that on Friday April first, Private Raheem Williams, stationed at Colonel Eyles Camp, is reported to have been in a fight. Estevan Baeza later succumbed to his injuries he sustained in the altercation. The police investigation continues and the Commander of the Belize Defence Force remains committed to the facilitation of that investigation. The Belize Defence Force, the Ministry of National Defence and Border Security are extending their condolences to Estevan Baeza’s family.
