After numerous run-ins with CitCo, Archie gets licenses

Story PictureThere is an update to the ongoing dispute between businessman Archie Lee and the City Council. Today, Lee called News Five to his business to say that early this morning he received certificates indicating that the trade licenses for both the Restaurant and his Convenience Store, had been renewed. Strangely enough, Lee says he has not paid for the licenses. But as it turns out, he was denied license to operate during extended hours and he also did not get liquor licenses for both businesses. Lee says he feels it is a ploy timed with the municipal elections.

Archie Lee, Businessman
“This morning, as usual, I wake up and one of the boys on the street they say Mr. Lee City Council drop this for you. So he give it to me and I was surprise because you remember they say all my cash bounce and so I don’t think I will get a license like that. They even tell the boy say the licenses already pay. I don’t know who paid for it.”

Duane Moody
“So you are saying that you did not pay for those licenses but yet you have your trade licenses for the restaurant and the store?”

Archie Lee
“Yes, yes because since the last time I stopped the payment because eventually—so much time on the media they say my cheque bounce and so and so. So I don’t pay them no mind but today I get a big surprise from them.”

Duane Moody
“What does this mean sir?”

Archie Lee
“Suddenly they send me two of the trade license, I don’t know what will be their next step. But right now I still wait for the liquor license. For the date they can put anything they want because they have the license.”

Duane Moody
“But now all of a sudden it is approved and you’ve gotten certificates and everything.”

Archie Lee
“Yes and they tell the boy this license already paid and I don’t know who pay, it’s not me. I believe that for City Council they want to do something so they look good for the election on March.”

Duane Moody
“How will this make them look good?”

Archie Lee
“Right now they put everything on me. They say I owe the bank, whatever, whatever. But I don’t know why they treat me so good suddenly.”

Lee says he will not re- open his store until his liquor licenses are renewed.
