Belize Trip is First Stop for Duke and Duchess of Cambridge

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge

Kensington Palace has sent out more details about the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s Caribbean tour to commemorate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Their Royal Highnesses will begin their three-country visit in Belize on March nineteenth. While no specific locations have been shared, the palace says they will visit sites that celebrate Maya and Garifuna cultures, and explore Belize’s biodiversity. On March twenty-second they head for Jamaica to engage with the Jamaican Defence Force and celebrate the legacy of Bob Marley and other ground-breaking Jamaican musicians as well as contemporary musical artists. The tour ends in The Bahamas where they will spend time with communities across a number of islands and experience a Junkanoo parade. Kensington Palace says the Caribbean’s response to COVID-19 will also be featured in The Duke and Duchess’ programme, and they will focus on themes “close to Their Royal Highnesses’ hearts.” A key focus of their work is the The Royal Foundation, including The Earthshot Prize, mental health and the importance of early childhood to lifelong outcomes. The Duke and Duchess have asked to meet a wide variety of groups, including children, young people and families, frontline workers, service personnel, leaders from government, business and the charity sector as well as conservationists.
