No COVID Tests Needed For Vaccinated Belizeans Coming Home

Kevin Bernard

Also on this morning’s Open Your Eyes interview, Minister of Health Kevin Bernard addressed the changes in the S.I. concerning COVID testing at the land borders and the P.G.I.A. Minister Bernard says Belizean who are coming back into the country and have proof of vaccination will not need to pay for COVID tests on re-entry.

“There was also a very burning issue for Belizeans was the issue of the border crossing. One of the main changes that has now been changed is, let’s talk about the Belizeans first. Belizeans going out of the country must be vaccinated. That remains. The only change that took effect was that now, that persons coming into the country does not necessarily have to test if you have proof of vaccination. Proof of immunization, meaning you have taken your full vaccines. So in the case of Belizeans, it is only vaccinated persons that can leave. So for returning, whether it is after a day or two or three or whatever days, you have been outside you no longer need test on return.”

Minister Bernard says of course travellers must still abide by the requirements of the countries they are visiting.  If COVID tests are required for entry there, this is beyond the control of Belizean regulations.
