Regional Security System To be Extended to Guyana
In other news coming out of the Thirty Third Inter-Sessional meeting, members of the Regional Security System (R.S.S.), have agreed to sign a protocol to the treaty that established the R.S.S. for the accession of the Republic of Guyana. Deputy Prime Minister Daniel spoke to us about the significance of this move, and what security means for the Caribbean.
Montgomery Daniel, Deputy Leader, St Vincent and the Grenadines
“Yes, St Vincent and the Grenadines is one of those members of the RSS. The security is critical to all of our nations. Look what is happening in Ukraine today. Of course, we in the Caribbean have to be able to understand that what is happening in Ukraine can easily happen in the Caribbean. Of course, we continue to indicate that the Caribbean must be a zone of peace. Though there may be differences in language and culture, at the end of the day peace is something for all of our countries, even though the cultures and languages are different.”
