Following the inauguration on Friday morning, the Ahmadiyya Muslim community in Belize will be hosting its seventh annual convention – referred to as Jalsa Salana. “The purpose of the convention is two-fold. One is to enable the members of the community to come together and refresh their friendship and brotherhood/sisterhood and also let the members of the extended community, who are not members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at; they also come and know what good work is being done by this community. So we want them to know the beauty of Islam and how belief in Islam translates into benefits for the society. So we welcome our brothers and sisters from outside the Jama’at also.”

“The annual convention is to bring to light the religious benefits, the religious knowledge and to bring people closer to God Almighty. And a secondary benefit that was said by the promised messiah is that it brings forth brotherhood – connections between man and brothers and all of that. So it is a convention to uplift ourselves spiritually and to gain a closer connection with God Almighty.”
