PM Hopeful 10% Can Be Reinstated Soon

John Briceño

This morning, before today’s meeting, Prime Minister John Briceño praised the efforts his Administration has made in growing the local economy over the last year. But, what will those successes mean for teachers and public servants?

Prime Minister John Briceño

“I believe we are going to be having a long meeting. We are going to be sharing with them the numbers. And then, the consultations start as to how we move forward. I know that the unions, rightly so, are looking how they can get back, if not all, at least a portion of the ten percent that we had to cut because we did not have the money. So, if we can we will hope to do that. We are partners in this together. The success of the PUP government is simply because the unions, and the public service, and the teachers, they are all cooperating for us to get where we are.”

“How are those numbers looking?”

Prime Minister John Briceño

“They are much better than what the IMF predicted, way better. The IMF predicted that we were going to have a two percent growth in GDP. The latest numbers, it seems that we may be as much as fifteen percent. Remember in 2020 we had the economy contracted by sixteen percent, almost seventeen percent it contracted. And, in one year our government managed to turn things around by working hard and getting the economy going, and giving the confidence to people, and coming up with a plan. And that is why we have the success.”
