Panton Says Patrick Remaining in Collet is the Constituents’ Prerogative
While she plans to dig deep and become battle-ready to take on perhaps the most arduous challenge in her political career, Panton says the next big challenge thereafter, if she is successful, would be making her party truly united. And, whether or not Faber remains in Collet would not be a decision for her to make, if she becomes the next party leader.
Tracy Panton, Aspiring U.D.P. & L.O.O. Leader
“I don’t know what impact – because I haven’t done an assessment or heard what impact – this may have had on Patrick in Collet, but I know that he is tenacious when it comes to his constituency. And I know he knows how to win. He has proven it over and over and over again. He is not – he doesn’t shy away from hard work and I am sure he will go to the people in Collet in short order to speak with them and to make amends where he needs to make amends. So, we won’t know really until that assessment is done. So we’ll wait and see. And I do think that people have the ability to reform. We are not, in my view, the product of our mistakes. When we recognize we have a problem, if we work at fixing the problem, I think we can rise above it. I’ve seen it. My colleague from Mesop, we’ve seen that happen. He, in his younger years, he had a challenge, he paid his time. He has paid his dues; he has elevated his status. He has inspired so many people along the way that his mistake has been used for a greater good.”
