Thе Јоіnt Unіоn nеgоtіаtіng tеаm is ѕсhеdulеd tо mееt with the Government of Belize counterparts on Wednesday. B.N.T.U. Most importantly, they want to see if their ten percent pay cut can be reinstated earlier than the period initially projected.

“Our meeting for tomorrow should be on. We don’t expect there will be any change in that.  We have had several changes so we don’t expect any more changes. We look forward to hearing from the government side, in terms of the government position, the financial position of the country, where we are with that, how expenses have been going, collection, and where we are in terms of the ten percent and increment freeze with our membership.”

“The Prime Minister has already said he doesn’t think they are ready to take off the pay cut from the Unions as yet. And when we asked him about your letter asking for certain information to be disclosed, he said he would only share what is relevant. What was your response?”

Elena Smith

“Well, this is not about what the Prime Minister thinks or what he feels. It has been very clear that once the country gets to a position where we can afford to be given back our ten percent, it should happen. So, regardless if he feels like we deserve it now, or we should get it now or not, if the position is that we are able to then that is what we will fight for.”
