ComPol: Victims Cannot Suffer in Silence

Orson Elrington

Last Friday, one of Patrick Faber’s attorney’s, Orson Elrington, lambasted the ComPol for sharing the information following the statement that Faber’s fiancée gave to the police. Elrington suggested that Williams was acting on political instruction. Today, Commissioner Williams said he holds nothing against Elrington, but won’t let him carry out his duties at the Commissioner’s expense. He also expressed solidarity with victims of domestic abuse.

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police, B.P.D.

“O.J. Elrington is an attorney, and he’s being paid to do a certain job and I expect that he’s going to do the job that he’s paid to for but not at my expense. At the end of the day, I know what my roles and functions are as the Commissioner of Police and so long as I discharge my duties to the best of my ability, I don’t care what anybody has to say. I don’t think that it was right for him to be upset at my comments and not upset about what it was alleged his client did. I think the allegations against his client is one that any reasonable person should be upset over because our women and children do not deserve to be abused by men. It should not be tolerated and as a society we have to stand in solidarity with all those victims of domestic violence. It is time for us not to be silent. I watched a video produced I think Mrs. Bradley Ellis – the wife of Darrell Bradley. She had a very interesting video on social media and I was listening to it. In her video she said, and I fully agree with her, that domestic violence is not a private matter. It is a crime and it should be a public matter. And the reason why I agree is because we cannot have victims of domestic violence suffering in silence. When they suffer in silence, it does more harm to them than anything else. So when it occurs it needs to be known, especially when it involves persons of influence.”
