Immigration C.E.O. Gives Update on 2022 Amnesty Program

Dr. Gilroy Middleton

Late last year, the Briceño Administration announced that it will be undertaking an amnesty exercise in 2022 to regulate the immigration status of tens of thousands of nationals from Central America and CARICOM. These persons would be processed, and if they satisfy the criteria, offered permanent residency. Immigration C.E.O. Doctor Gilroy Middleton gave details at Thursday’s press conference.

“We are currently speaking with stakeholders. We started from last week. This week, we are speaking with village councils, the mayors’ association, Alcalde association. Currently, Director Arzu is meeting with the Solicitor General so we are meeting with stakeholders. The budget has been set and we are doing the rounds, as you have noted. So we are in the preparation mode.”
