C.W.U. Says Resignations No Reason to Block Appointments
P.B.L. noted in their response that both Raymond Rivers and Sean Middleton “resigned at their own will and P.B.L. accepted those resignations; that process is final and closed”. With this, P.B.L. noted that they will not be hiring or rehiring anyone. Hyde shot back that it has been common practice for stevedores with specialized skills to leave for extended periods and then return to job in a situation of necessity.

“There is a legitimate well founded reason why the general foremen said, we need these two men back. So, we cannot understand why, unless it is you would ah seh, you are dealing with personality, and you are dealing with some kinda spite. But, we are not approaching it like that, we are saying listen, this is recommended by our general foremen, and then you are going to tell us we are having an illegal action, when it is we put forward our twenty days notice in July of 2021, which we have not rescinded.”
