PM: Chebat Was Needed At Public Utilities
The talk since last week Monday has been Prime Minister John Briceño’s shuffling of his cabinet. But while many have been saying that former Minister of Health and Wellness Michel Chebat deserved to be penalized for what they feel is his abrasive approach, the Prime Minister said Chebat is needed in his new post over at the Ministry of Public Utilities.
Prime Minister John Briceño
“I need somebody with a legal mind to be able to manage the Public Utilities and Logistics Ministry because of the issues that we’re having right now with raising rates and proposed rates of electricity that the P.U.C. is presenting, the issues that we may have with B.T.L., at B.E.L., at B.W.S.L., the issues of energy, what are going to be our energy needs in the years to come. As it is right now, our energy consumption is almost at 2019 levels. So there’s huge growth and we need to start to think about what we’re going to do. We also have challenges at the Ministry of Logistics with the Ports, so I felt that maybe it’s time now to move him from there and put him where we can use his legal mind.”
