Auditor General and Ombudsman Posts Still Vacant
The vacancy for the post of Ombudsman will be advertised in a few days. In addition to that, the recent retirement of Dorothy Bradley as Auditor General has also made that post vacant. In his briefing with the media today, Prime Minister John Briceño explained that these posts are not the easiest to fill. He spoke first about the Auditor General’s post.
Prime Minister John Briceño
“There is a difficulty in trying to find the right persons to fill these posts. Presently we have a person acting in that position. We’re looking within the public service to see if we can find somebody that can adequately fill that position and once we do that we would be happy to fill it permanently. I could also tell you that probably this week and certainly by next week, we’re going to put an advertisement for the Ombudsman’s position publicly so people can apply and the letter for the appointment of the Integrity Commission has gone to the Governor General for that appointment.”
