P.S.U. on Doctor Sabido’s Appointment
News Five today spoke with the President of the Public Service Union, Dean Flowers, who says that as a union they have no say in the appointment of a C.E.O. But, he notes that there are negative rumblings about Doctor Julio Sabido being tapped for health C.E.O.
Dean Flowers, President, P.S.U.
“I must congratulate Doctor Julio on his appointment. That is the purview of the Prime Minister and there are no set criteria for the prime minister to appoint people in those posts, so we will respect that appointment. But from a public union standpoint, I will be honest with the minister that a lot of the discord that exists within the ministry, a lot of distrust, the newly appointed C.E.O. is in the middle of those. So while we cannot impact or influence that appointment or we won’t even question the appointment – because like I said, anybody can be appointed as a C.E.O. for the most part as we see that under both administrations – we need to make clear our position on the information that we have as it relates to his role in the chaos that unfolded under Michel Chebat.”
Kevin Bernard, Mister of Health & Wellness
“My goal is to make sure that whatever friction may have existed – whether at the senior technical levels, whether at the lower level, my focus is to lead this ministry to ensure that is unity for purpose and that purpose is to ensure that we can improve health services across this country.”
