Is Doctor Marvin Manzanero Making a Comeback?
Since the P.U.P. took office, former Director of Health Services Doctor Marvin Manzanero made the news for several reasons. He survived his bout with COVID-19, but was eventually pushed out of the post. The Director of Health Services post was made redundant, and then in December, he was given his termination letter. This all happened under the leadership of then Minister of Health and Wellness, Michel Chebat. During Channel Five’s Open Your Eyes show, Minister Kevin Bernard says that he feels that Doctor Manzanero can play a significant role in the ministry.
Kevin Bernard, Minister of Health & Wellness
“I’ve been talking, seeking advice, looking at the best fit that we feel that can fit these positions. And despite what had happened with Doctor Manza, I believe that Doctor Manza can continue to play a very significant role in this ministry, at a senior level. And I am prepared and I have also reached out to him over the weekend and today, in fact, I will be meeting with Doctor Marvin Manzanero to see how we can solve this issue amicably.”

“Your intention is to keep him on your staff?”
Kevin Bernard
“Yes. I would want to keep Doctor Manzanero at some point in some senior position. I think he plays a very critical role in the ministry. And like I said, despite what people may say, I am not going in there to look at the political part of things, but to ensure that the professional part of things are done in this ministry. We have a lot of great technical people – doctors, medical officers, professionals – that want to contribute. So there are key positions: the Director of Hospital Services, the Director of Public Health and Wellness; we also have the Director of Public Health and Wellness. Well we do have deputy Director of Health Services, but because of the abolishing of that post and with the creation of all these posts, we just have to realign those positions. And then there is the Director of International Affairs which deals with COMISCA.”
