Minister of Transport Says 100% Seating Capacity but with Strict Guidelines in Place
The COVID numbers have been rising since the latter part of December, and the guidelines say we should be keeping our distance and follow other safety measures. But, the seating capacity in the public transportation system remains at one hundred percent. Today, Minister of Transportation, Rodwell Ferguson, says we just have to adhere to the safety measures at this time.

“Ih nuh matter how yoh she yoh wa abide by a six-foot distance, there are some circumstances where you have to figure out how ih wa happen. Even if I seh the buses go back to seventy-five percent, at some point in time, there will be two passengers in a seat. If I say fifty percent, with the price of fuel, how will the operators make their money? We have to make sure that business thrives in this country. When a bus leaves a terminal everybody must be properly seated. Sometimes it gets out of control when a bus leaves the terminal and picks up other passengers on the highway. So I already talked to my Chief Transport Officer that there should be strategic locations where there should be a checkpoint to see if the bus still remains with the crowd that they left from the terminal with because once they leave the terminal it is out of the Terminal Unit control.”
