New Book Released on the Historical Land and Property of Belize

History buffs may be interested in a new book published on the study of land and property in Belize. It’s called the “Origins of a Colonial Order in Belize in nineteenth and twentieth Centuries,” and it was written by Odile Hoffmann. She was the Director of the French Centre for Mexican and Central American Studies in Mexico as well as a geographer. In particular Hoffman specializes in Latin American and the dynamics of land, politics, and culture, particularly in Mexico, Colombia, and Belize. According to a joint release from the Mexican Embassy and Cubola Publications, “Origins of a Colonial Order” is the first real study of the transformation of the earth in this area into territory and property. The volume includes case studies of land politics in the Corozal, Orange Walk, and Toledo Districts.
