Next Stop for LIU, Kulcha Capital

Kevin Cadle

Also added its expertise to the discussion was the Leadership Intervention Unit.  Similar to the work it has been doing in Belize City with at-risk youths, the LIU will be hosting a series of trainings, as well as interventions in Dangriga, in an attempt to curb the crime situation that has gripped that community.

Kevin Cadle, Director of Youth Services

“Coming this new fiscal year, we will increase the number of young persons in apprenticeship and on-the-job skills training in Dangriga Town, from about forty to a hundred young persons… We’ll also increase training in conflict management, especially for our department personnel and minister, I would like your support in increasing the staff at the Department of Youth Services in Dangriga.  We will definitely work on rebuilding our youth office here in Dangriga and we have already started that process, hopefully we can get this done by the end of the year that we have a new youth office in Dangriga Town.  Most importantly for us today was the people who came out to be a part of this very important meeting and their commitment to see how they can work with us to be able to make Dangriga Town safer because, as I said to them, it is not only that we must change policing but we must also change the culture of how we operate as a people.  It cannot be that we want to see crime and violence go down and as parents, as brothers, as sisters, as cousins, we tolerate those around us to be involved in crime and violence.”
