San Roman Chairman Makes Appeal to Police Department
And while the incident is isolated, Chairman of San Roman, Augustine Choc, says that it also brings into focus the need for police presence in the village. He says that a call was made to the substation in the neighbouring village of Santa Cruz, and the officers responded to the scene. But in other instances, the request for police assistance has not been forthcoming.
Augustine Choc, Chairman, San Roman Village
“What I feel right now, because sometimes I call police, sometimes they are fighting on the road and I call police and dehn noh respond. So what I need to say right now, I know they will hear my voice and when I call them, they supposed to come to see what happened ina my village. And the next time I want to say is I need a police station ina di village because San Roman and Santa Rosa is very big.”

“From Santa Cruz. And sometimes I call Santa Cruz and they never respond. They don’t respond. Sometimes they tell me yo have to call independence. That’s what they told me.”
Duane Moody
“Which is even further away.”
Augustine Choc
“Yah.”
