Robbery Attempt Leads to Belize City Woman Being Stabbed
A foiled robbery attempt on Marine Parade on Saturday night ended with a woman being assaulted and stabbed. Belize City resident Kerry Esquivel reported to police that around eight-thirty she was approached by two men who demanded she give them her motorcycle. In response, Esquivel pulled out a pepper spray and used it on one of the men. She was attacked; punched to the face and stabbed to the body before the culprits fled the scene. She is at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital in a stable condition. Here’s more from A.S.P Yearwood.

“She reported that on Saturday, January eighth, sometime around 8:40 p.m., she was on Newtown Barracks when she was approached by two men who attempted to take away her motorcycle. She bravely took out a pepper spray, where she managed to spray one of them but the other managed to stab her somewhere in the abdomen area. Both assailants then ran off – she couldn’t say in which direction because of course, she was suffering at that time. She managed to drive her cycle to another business establishment where she was assisted to the K.H.M.H., where she received treatment.”
While the woman was able to thwart the robbery, police do not advise citizens to fight off attackers, since they could end up seriously injured or worse.
