Coast Guard Raid on Caye; High Powered Rifle Found
On Thursday morning, Coast Guard Special Operations launched a raid on Tobacco Caye. It resulted in the detention of one person after the officers discovered a military grade riffle and thirty live rounds of five point five-six millimetre military grade calibre. The commando version of the M-four carbine riffle was found inside a room occupied by Robert Bradley who has since been handed over to police for prosecution. The Special Operations unit of the Belize Coast Guard is designed to mirror police land based efforts in Dangriga, which has seen a recent spike in crime. According to police, Bradley had no gun license approval and remains detained pending charges.
