Raiders and Nets set for Friday confrontation

Story Picture
Basketball fans will get another chance to see Belize’s best semi-pro teams in action this Friday night. As expected both the B.T.L. Nets and the Raiders are confident that they will win. Arreini Palacio spoke to both sides of the court today to find out how each team intends to defeat the other.

Three pointers, rebounds, lay-ups and fouls, last week’s basketball finals game was fire on the court from the start to the finish.

In the end, the game went in favor of the Raiders.

Mose Hyde, Coach, Phoenix Footlocker Raiders

“We are pretty up; we enjoyed the victory but that is not it. Friday night the team is going to work and try to accomplish it.”

Their rivals B.T.L. Nets, the first team to make it to the finals with seven wins out of eight games, are determined not to leave the court without the championship rings. They have plans to unleash a secret weapon.

Kevin Castillo, Coach, B.T.L. Nets

“You are going to see a better organized game and we have a surprise on Friday night. I am not going to tell you what it is but for those people who are going to go out there you will see. I will give you a hint, there are many people who have been trying to keep this surprise away from the league, but you will see him suiting up this Friday.”

B.T.L. believes their heavy artillery will blow away Raiders in Friday night’s game, but the Raiders are equally certain they have what it takes to reclaim the title. The fact remains only one team can win.

Kevin Castillo

“We are a much better team than the Raiders if you match up the team, man for man. We have a better organization. There is no reason to loose confidence at this time.”

Mose Hyde

“We have not won yet. We won the first game of the series but now it is down to two. That is not how we are looking at it. We are looking at this Friday night, trying to get the job done. We have a winning effort now and throughout the season. Winning is work.”

Does it all end this Friday, or will the Nets have another chance to rise up and steal the golden dreams from the Raiders? Your guess is as good as mine. Arreini Palacio for News Five.

Pheonix Footlocker Raiders’ forward Keith Acosta was voted the regular season’s Most Valuable Player.
