12 Patients in COVID Unit, None on Ventilators
While active COVID-19 cases are currently above two thousand, the number of persons admitted to the COVID Unit at the K.H.M.H. right now is low. As of Tuesday, only twelve persons were admitted, and only five of them are actually COVID-positive. There are concerns for the unvaccinated, however, because they account for forty percent of the total population.

“Up to yesterday, we had twelve patients in the COVID Unit, five that were positive for COVID, and seven that were persons under investigations awaiting the results of their test. I think it is pretty much a fact that the symptoms of Omicron are milder than Delta. And, for now at this moment, that theory is translated into hospitalization. Even the patients we have admitted today and I say today because you know things can change overnight, are patients that are mildly ill. So, we don’t have any patients that are ventilated for COVID at this time, despite the numbers rising. And, we haven’t had deaths over the past couple days either. So, we are hopeful and very optimistic, but we can’t let our guards down.”
