B.S.C.F.A. Chairman Says Association Did Not “Bully” B.S.I. into Signing Agreement

But, did cane farmers use undue pressure to get A.S.R./B.S.I. to sign an interim agreement as some would suggest? A.S.R./B.S.I. on Thursday referred to the actions of the farmers as “illegal tactics”. We asked Westby for a response.

“I believe it is not a bullying tactics, it is just that the farmer wanted to assure their payments for their cane, and they are also worrying about their production to go in, because if that doesn’t go in then their financial status could be in jeopardy you know, and also we don’t want that to happen. And, also we are very interested because we have bills to pay and family to maintain. And also, what they did is not bullying is just that they are showing they are serious and want what is theirs and what is justified for them.”
