Ministry of Health & Wellness Warns Against Public Partying
Proprietors of night clubs, discotheques, and bars are cautioned that Statutory Instrument number one-fifty-one of 2021 prohibits these establishments from holding parties and related activities at this time. The caution comes from the Ministry of Health and Wellness, which in a press release issued today, expressed concern about several advertisements in circulation promoting Christmas parties and New Year’s celebrations at known nightclubs and bars in various locations across the country. The ministry refers everyone to Regulation number sixteen of the S.I. which states that, “for the purposes of preventing, controlling, containing and suppressing the spread of infectious disease COVID-19, discotheques, bars, rum shops and night clubs shall be closed.” The ministry adds that it will rely on the cooperation of the Belize Police Department and the owners of these business establishments to uphold the law in an effort to help prevent a COVID outbreak during the Christmas season and the New Year.
