Introducing: Wagner’s Youth Facility’s New Director

There is a new director at the Wagner’s Youth Facility.  Robert Diaz replaces William Dawson, who moved on to help gang members in Belize City who are trying to uplift their lives and to unite. C.E.O. of the Kolbe Foundation told us more about the school teacher turned director of the correctional facility.

“Mr. Diaz is a teacher by profession, his background is a primary school teacher and he has dealt with young children in primary school. Now I know this category of youths that he’s dealing with is definitely different from what he’s used to. But he’s been with us at least two months now and I think he’s getting his foot wet and he seems very much up to the job. To work in a prison, Marion, is not an easy job. These boys, whether they are children or adults, and the women prisoners as well, they continue with their schemes sometimes, and you have got to have the experience to deal with them. Some of them will always want to push boundaries and I believe it’s only experience that will get you over the hump, so to speak, in trying to find the right strategy in dealing with them.”
