Thirty-six-year-old Clive Sutherland was reportedly heading home in the Lake Independence area sometime before eight on Thursday night when he became a gunman’s target. Police say that Sutherland was riding a bicycle on Vernon Street towards Mopan Street at around seven-forty p.m., when as he passed in front of a chain link fence Zoe Ministries, someone who was standing in front of the fence fired two shots. One of the bullets struck Sutherland, but he was able to muster enough strength to continue riding, and turned right into Mopan Street and then left into Mahogany Street, where he collapsed. A Police mobile that was on patrol in the area picked up Sutherland and transported him to the K.H.M.H., where he is reportedly in a critical, but stable condition. Notably, the shooting happened about two hundred meters away from a Police check point at the junction of Vernon and Mayflower Streets. Police have not indicated if they have established a motive for the attack or whether they have any suspects in custody as yet. Marion Ali for News Five.
